South East Traffic Solution

Improving traffic efficiency and safety in growing communities

pitt&sherry supported the Department of State Growth in delivering the South East Traffic Solution. Our team developed designs for five major project components.


Project aim

The objective of this project was to upgrade the Tasman Highway and the Arthur Highway east of Hobart Airport to improve traffic efficiency and safety. The project included five major components including:

  • Holyman Avenue Interchange Upgrade
  • Airport to Midway Point Causeway Duplication
  • Midway Point Intersection Solution
  • Midway Point and Sorell Causeways Duplication
  • Arthur Highway – East of Iron Creek Bridge Overtaking Lane 

What we did

pitt&sherry has played a critical role in supporting the Department of State Growth to deliver the South East Traffic Solution having undertaken the following works:

  • Development of the reference design for the Holyman Avenue Interchange Upgrade
  • Development of the concept, preliminary detailed design for the Airport to Midway Point Causeway Duplication
  • Development of the concept, preliminary detailed design for the Midway Point Intersection Solution
  • Development of the concept design for the Midway Point and Sorell Causeways Duplication; and 
  • Development of the concept, preliminary detailed design for the Arthur Highway – East of Iron Creek Bridge Overtaking Lane

As part of delivering these projects, pitt&sherry has been responsible for undertaking stakeholder engagement, obtaining approvals and ensuring that the individual project designs align with the overall SETS strategy.
